Old Cordes

In 1883 Cordes aka Cordes Station, located 8 miles east of Mayer, was established by John Henry Cordes. It was a well used stage stop and a general store. In 1915 a gas station fueled vehicles traveling from Phoenix to Prescott. It was a popular stop for many years. The town dried up when Interstate 17 bypassed it by 5 miles.
